“I received a copy of Lead Like Louie: Leaders Who Love are Life-Changers from AAC CEO, Sonya Fultz and was truly amazed. This book is phenomenal for emerging leaders. As a young professional, I’m always eager to further develop my leadership skills. Lead Like Louie not only taught me the importance of leading others with compassion and understanding, but how to lead with love.”
Lead Like Louie is centered around author, Danise DiStaci, and her relationship with her rescue puppy, Louie. From when she first adopted Louie to where they are now, Danise describes how her experiences with Louie have changed her into the leader she is today. Using real lessons and stories she’s learned through her time with Louie, Danise explains the importance of being present, stepping out of your comfort zone, and showing others your true, authentic self.
One thing I enjoyed was the fact that, throughout the book, Danise often reiterates that people are different. In our place of work and out, we love, communicate, and process things differently. She explains that the key to understanding others is being open and intentional with both our words and actions. Leaders who practice these skills are the most successful.
All in all, Lead Like Louie is an empowering read. Through her anecdotes, you feel as if you are actually there. I enjoyed that Danise gives the reader insight towards both professional and personal leadership development. What I have learned from this book will last a lifetime.
