Gingerbread STEM Activity

Materials:

Boat
• Plastic tub
• Toilet paper roll
• Popsicle sticks
• Pipe fitters
• Straws
• Pipe Cleaners
• Yarn
• Construction paper
• Crayons & pencils
• Cardboard
• Water in bin
• REAL Gingerbread Cookies

Bridge

• Same materials for boat
• Make a river with construction paper
• 2 cups to hold the bridge

Instructions:
 

1. Lay out all the materials on the table
2. Allow students to walk around and look at all the materials to plan how to build their boat or bridge
3. Allow students to choose if they would like to build the bridge or boat
4. Students will make a blue print of their design and list the materials they will use
5. After the students make and test their designs, they will answer the question at the bottom of the sheet
